What is a Community Center
A community center offers a safe haven to vulnerable kids
A community center offers a safe haven to vulnerable kids
A community center doesn’t just improve the lives of kids. It also lifts up the entire community! It is a powerful symbol that our children and families matter and that we care enough to invest in their communities.
It is where all our sponsored and non-sponsored children from the community gather to learn, play and share. The children are mentored in groups, where they receive individual attention from caring staff. Each child receives tutoring, counseling, and support to make sure their academic, spiritual, and personal needs are all being met.
A community center offers a variety of crucial benefits for our kids, all supporting our goal of breaking their cycle of poverty.
The heart of our work
Children in the communities where we work don’t have safe, clean places to spend time in. A community center provides that! Places where families are treated with dignity and Out-Of-School Children (OOSC) and other kids escape negative influences such as gang recruitment, violence and drugs.
The talented, selfless staff members, volunteers and supporters who ensure our kids feel valued, emotionally secure and unconditionally loved are the heart of BaNgaAfayo Initiative Uganda.
Our community centers will offer the following facilities and programs:
- Education Center with computer lab and public library
- Education for Out-Of-School Children (OOSC)
- Early & primary education enrichment program
- Food security & nutrition program
- Vocational education program
- Community development & parent/teacher training
